Strengthening Smallholder Farmers’ Resilience and Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Agriculture

The Strengthening Smallholder Farmers’ Resilience and Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Agriculture in the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga (SCRAS) Project seeks to support smallholder farmers and vulnerable communities to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, strengthen their capacity to respond to climate change, and improve household livelihoods. The project is being implemented in Builsa South, Nabdam, West Mamprusi and Kassena-Nankana West .

Objectives

Objective 1: Smallholder farmers continue to adopt and intensify sustainable practices in farming and livestock keeping.

Objective 2: Targeted communities are committed to intensify the implementation of Climate Adaptation Action Plans (CAAPs).

Objective 3: Targeted women continue to engage in micro-enterprises to increase their assets and income.

Key Focus Areas

The project promotes climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable crop and livestock production, environmental conservation, community-led climate adaptation, and women’s economic empowerment, helping communities build more resilient and sustainable livelihoods in the face of changing climatic conditions.

Funder: MISEREOR, with co-funding from the Catholic Diocese of Bistum Münster.

Implementation Period: April 2026 – March 2029 (current phase).

Target: The current phase will directly benefit 5,217 smallholder farmers across 16 communities in Builsa South, Nabdam, West Mamprusi and Kassena-Nankana West Districts.
